#flashbackfriday Market Square was a competition-winning scheme for a pivotal site on Pennsylvania Avenue, appropriately continuing the #neoclassical vocabulary of the #FederalTriangle. Bisecting Market Square's twin, mirror image, mixed-use buildings is the only cross axis along the avenue joining the White House and the Capitol.  Completed in 1990.⠀

505 Ninth Street is located in the heart of #PennQuarter in #WashingtonDC and is part of #LEnfants historic 8th Street axis. The 8th Street facade shown above is a compilation of low rise pieces - #brick, #precast and #curtainwall - respecting the General Post Office across the street and maintaining the scale and character of the small commercial structures to the north. Completed in 2007.⠀

The Duke University Divinity School completed in 2004. The design of the tracery windows and the use of stone are complimentary to the adjacent Duke Chapel. ⠀

Originally the old Patent Office Building, a National Historic Landmark, and considered to be one of the most important Greek Revival buildings in America, the National Portrait Gallery & Smithsonian American Art Museum was completed in 2006.

The American Enterprise Institute has found their new home at 1789 Massachusetts Avenue which was originally the McCormick Apartments, constructed in 1916. The restoration and renovation project included new MEP systems, elevators, and exterior rehabilitation. Much of the building is protected by the National Trust of Historic Preservation perpetual historic easement. The three street facades and much of the interior spaces were left largely intact, retained, or rehabilitated. ⠀
Completed in 2016.⠀

As a continuously operated public school for over 100 years, Francis L. Cardozo High School was renovated and modernized for state-of-the-art teaching environments for the 21st century while rehabilitating and restoring the Nationally Registered collegiate gothic building. Completed in 2013.

Part of the historic Law Quad, this previously unused courtyard at the University of Michigan Robert B. Aikens Commons is now a vibrant gathering place for law students. Completed in 2011.
