About Hartman-Cox Architects
Hartman Cox Architects is a prominent Architecture firm based in Georgetown in Washington, DC, recognized for high-quality design and world-class preservation. The practice is known for context-sensitive architecture and public-realm work involving streets, campuses, and landmark/iconic building. We engage our clients as co-creators who work collaboratively on complex projects that have extensive reviews and complex technical programs. As a small practice, HCA culture values design excellence, technical rigor and excellent "architectural" skills such as drawing, sketching and diagramming. The firm has a broad portfolio across project scales and client types and does not specialize in a particular building type or style. About half the work is new buildings and thoughtful re-designs of existing structures. Our other work is focused on applying the next generation of preservation values to nationally prominent buildings and sites here in DC, nationwide and abroad. Almost all work is in historic structures or districts in urban areas across the United States.
