1875 K Street

Quadrangle Development Corporation
Washington, DC

Through use of massing and color, the building successfully distinguishes itself from its neighbors while maintaining a contextual response. The building's 155 foot corner tower embellishment, sitting prominently on the corner of K and 19th Streets, creates a terminus to the 470 foot long block and can be seen for several blocks down the street. The skin, articulated in sculpted precast concrete simulating French limestone with punched black windows, is an interpretive neo-Gothic assembly which recedes and diminishes as it rises, accentuating its verticality in a low-rise city.
